In 2018, Grace Ashcroft, renowned journalist Alyssa Ashcroft's daughter, was living here at the Rainwood Hotel with her. Someone on the phone confirms Grace's presence and causes a blackout here. And as Alyssa was fleeing from here with some evidence, she doesn't tell Grace anything yet and hurriedly hides her evidence behind a painting. Right here, a hooded zombie kills Alyssa, and in this fight, the hotel catches fire. Grace survives this incident.
Now in October 2026, Grace is an FBI analyst. Her boss sends her to do ground reporting at the abandoned Rainwood Hotel, where another body has been found. So Grace was working on her Raccoon City truth report at the FBI. Where Grace sees that even after 28 years since the US government dropped missiles on Raccoon City, they still have a lockdown in place. And this government extends this lockdown to 2040. Also, for some unknown reason, the US government withdraws from the bioweapons prohibition treaty. And why was the government so pro-bioweapon now? Grace was investigating this.
So now as Grace arrives at the Rainwood Hotel, the FBI had so far found out about some mysterious murders. All deaths had this connection: all were survivors of Raccoon City, and all had black bruising on their bodies. Right here in the hotel, Grace discovers in Room 24 that someone had been stalking her for years. And Grace also sees on this bed a photo from the night her mother died. From her mother's photo, Grace remembers that 8 years ago, Alyssa had hidden her evidence behind the painting of the hotel lobby here. And as Grace recovers the evidence, along with Alyssa's diary, she finds a proprietary disk, like a floppy come CD drive. Grace saves this in a hidden zipper of her bag.
Right here, outside the hotel, the stationed police officer becomes a zombie. Grace flees to the top floor of the hotel and sees Victor Gideon, who was an ex-Umbrella scientist researching the T-Virus. He knocks Grace unconscious and kidnaps her.
On the other side, DSO agent Leon S. Kennedy, whose handler was now Sherry Birkin, was also following the death incident of Raccoon City survivors. Leon had become 49 years old by now. Sherry tells Leon about Victor Gideon. And as the police officer posted at the Rainwood Hotel also became a zombie and was killed, Leon comes to the Rainwood Hotel to investigate his missing report.
Right here, outside the Rainwood Hotel, Leon sees Gideon kidnapping Grace. To escape from Leon, Gideon infects passing pedestrians with the T-Virus, causing a small-scale outbreak in this area.
Leon, who was now 49 years old, permanently carries an axe in his arsenal. And fighting zombies all these years, he had become an unchained predator. And with his axe, he can parry almost anything.
After fighting these zombies, Leon removes his glove and shows us that he also has this black infection on his skin. It turns out that all Raccoon City survivors inhaled the T-Virus spores from the air. This is the same T-Virus infection. And because of this infection, Leon as well as Sherry were now dying.
So now as Gideon escapes from Leon, Sherry digs up Gideon's history and finds out that after leaving his job at Umbrella, he had bought a chronic care center on Road Hills. And as Leon was coming to this care center, Grace also regains consciousness in this same center. She breaks the glass bottle they were using to collect her blood and frees herself.
Grace is chased here in the care center by a mutated girl. Meanwhile, Leon also reaches the care center. The receptionist here tells Leon that Doctor Gideon was waiting for him. And as Leon waits for Victor Gideon, seeing a photo from Gideon's Umbrella days, right then a Code Six emergency is declared at this care center. Meaning Gideon had started a T-Virus outbreak here too.
In this outbreak, as Leon mows down zombies, the big cheese girl was about to kill Grace. And Leon saves Grace with his hand cannon, appropriately named Requiem. As the two talk here, a lockdown is announced at this care center. As this care center was also designed in Umbrella's style, getting out of this place wasn't easy once everything locked down with cages everywhere.
Leon tells Grace he's FBI. Hearing all this, he gives her his Requiem revolver before they separate. And as Grace leaves, Gideon grabs Leon from the shadows. Seeing the T-Virus infection in Leon, he knocks him unconscious.
On Grace's side now, October 8th, 2026, 11:00 PM, the Raccoon City events begin. And Grace, avoiding all zombies, finds her escape route. Here, Grace meets a blind girl who was kept behind Level 3 security, named Emily. And as Emily helps Grace solve a puzzle, a mother-daughter-like relationship forms between Grace and Emily.
Right about now, Leon also frees himself from captivity. He has Sherry hack the PC of this care center and sees that Gideon was researching some "LP" project here. And somehow Grace was connected to this LP.
Right now, Grace, with Emily, gets out of the care center. There was Victor Gideon's chopper outside. The limping pilot of this chopper tells Grace that if she brings him the key to his helicopter, he'll get them both out of here. Grace puts Emily in this helicopter, infiltrates Gideon's hidden lab, and also gets info about LP. Then she sees Oswald E. Spencer's research and finds out that LP might be Oswald's mind transfer experiment. And right here, Grace sees how Victor Gideon was conducting experimentation on countless people with the T-Virus for this LP knowledge.
Right here, Grace steals the helicopter key. She hears Gideon talking to someone that Grace herself is the key to recovering LP. He was talking about this. And as Gideon was finally about to get LP, he destroys his research by activating his lab's protocol. In the midst of this, Grace tries to escape by helicopter with the pilot and Emily. But due to so many zombies, this helicopter crashes right in the care center. Where, obviously in RE games, the pilot doesn't survive. But Emily also gets injured in this crash. And as Grace picks up Emily, she tries to go with her to a nearby chapel.
Leon, bro, here saves Grace from zombies with a rifle. And as Leon reaches Grace, waves of infected come. Leon tells Grace and Emily to get out through the water treatment plant. And as Leon was taking care of these waves of zombies, Grace lays Emily down. She opens the hatch to go to the surface of this facility. By now, it was 7:00 AM on October 9th. And as Grace avoids the big cheese girl and opens this hatch, Grace succeeds in defeating this girl with sunlight. But right now, Emily becomes unresponsive from her wound. And as Grace gives CPR to Emily, she finds out that Emily was also a T-Virus experiment who reaches her mutated state.
And right here, Leon also arrives and saves Grace. Despite Grace refusing, he does not kill Emily. Leon injures the non-lethal parts of Emily's mutated state and knocks Emily unconscious. Grace thinks Leon killed Emily. And Grace says that because of him, everyone dies. Right here, she returns Leon's Requiem gun. She's not going with him now. And as Grace goes out alone, Leon, bro, will soon die from the T-Virus infection. As he vomits blood, he can't stop Grace.
On Grace's side now, Gideon tells Grace that LP is within her reach. Introducing Grace to Xeno here. Xeno was a connections guy. And Connections is currently the world's number one black market B.O.W. selling company. And Xeno here is a clone-type personality of Albert Wesker. And you can say he's a bootleg copy of Wesker, having powers like Wesker, but he's not the real Wesker. Right here, Xeno tells Grace that she can create a new world. And to tell her her real purpose, Xeno puts Grace in his chopper and takes her to Raccoon City.
Leon now reaches Raccoon City following Grace. Sherry here tries to get all information about LP from the Pentagon. But these files required a higher clearance level. And when Sherry requests access to this level, the government denies her this access. Plus, they tell her to shut down the entire LP investigation. So Sherry supports Leon working from the shadows.
And as Leon, bro, reaches Raccoon City after 28 years, right here at a petrol pump outside this city, Leon's jeep was still standing there, burnt. As Leon arrives at the outskirts of Raccoon City and parks his car, to reach the city center, he scouts the way ahead from a broken building. Right here, a mutated spider attacks Leon, and as Leon takes care of the spider with his axe, in his one-liner, Leon says, "This is the Raccoon City hospitality."
Right here now, Leon sees that all routes to the city center were blocked by the military in 1998. And right here, Leon sees that some organization has planted bombs here to break this fencing. And to reach Grace, Leon has to detonate this bomb. But this bomb's detonator was faulty. So as Leon finds parts for a new detonator, he sees that the B.S.A.A. had set up their camps here in Raccoon City. Then, seeing camp footage of a dead B.S.A.A. soldier's body, Leon learns that the B.S.A.A. also came here to recover LP from some Ark. But this unit was wiped out by cheap Wesker.
So as you know from RE8, the B.S.A.A. has now become corrupt, sold to these bioweapon syndicates. That's why Chris Redfield forms his own task force within the B.S.A.A., named Hound Wolf Squad, which consisted of Chris's trusted men and is led only by Chris.
Now, after Leon finds three detonator parts, Leon also finds a dirt bike from a B.S.A.A. container here, which was in good condition. And through the broken buildings and roads of the city center, Leon continues his journey on this bike. But right here, Xeno sends Victor to stop Leon. And Victor tries to slow Leon down with an RPG. And also, in scenes similar to the Resident Evil: Vendetta movie, mutated dogs chase after Leon. And this part was very well directed. Also, here there is Japanese over-the-top stuff, which I also really liked.
Then, at the end of the highway, Leon and Gideon have a jousting match. Leon knocks Gideon off the highway. Where Victor Gideon is presumed dead. And right here, Leon says he should have worn a helmet riding a bike.
Now, by October 9th, 2:00 PM, Leon reaches the Raccoon City center. Grace's location was here in the old R.P.D. headquarters. And this whole place was filled with so much nostalgia, love, and care. And as Leon opens the R.P.D. gate, he gets memories of his RE2 days, the time when he was a rookie. And now, Leon, bro, had become a seasoned predator. And overall, this whole Raccoon City chapter was very good. But the nostalgia of the R.P.D. H.Q. is on a different level. And right here, Leon also sees an Easter egg of RE2's tofu. And there were so many Easter eggs throughout this R.P.D. base that it would make a very long video.
But as Leon reaches Grace, right here Xeno tells Grace what LP is. He says that all the covert military groups of the world come to Raccoon City to find LP. And LP is the last bioweapon created by Oswald Spencer, with which you could mind control people. And then Xeno reveals that the government missile-struck Raccoon City so that no one would find out the location of this LP. Then Xeno tells Grace that not finding a candidate like Grace, since 1990, bioweapon companies have been making copies of Grace, Emilies, who could unlock LP.
Right here, Grace sees a recording of an Emily from 1990, who, escaping from copies of Grace here at the Raccoon City Orphanage, flees to the Ark facility. But right here, this Emily also wasn't a perfect clone of Grace. So the scientists here discard her too. And with all this info, Grace faints from so much trauma.
Right here, as Leon interrupts Xeno, this Xeno says that he has no time to spare. Where the real Wesker still found 7 minutes to spare with us. Anyway, Xeno deploys Mr. X here, who was an updated version of the 1998 tyrant. And Xeno goes with Grace to a facility named Ark.
Right here, as Leon tells Mr. X that he remembers him, and then after taking Mr. X's punch, Leon says he remembers this punch too. Leon downs Mr. X here and now heads towards the Raccoon City Orphanage to reach the Ark. On the way, reaching Kendo's shop, Leon remembers Robert Kendo, who, after his daughter becomes a zombie, kills himself with her. And right here, seeing Robert and his daughter's skull, Leon says that after the Raccoon City incident, he won't let any other such incident happen.
Then, as Mr. X challenges Leon on the way, Leon fights Mr. X again after 1998. Just this time, defeating him was personal for him.
Reaching the orphanage here, this orphanage was completely broken. And Leon starts descending into the Ark's creator. Where some mutated plants hinder Leon and collapse this subway. But Leon, using a rope tied by the B.S.A.A., descends into the Ark. Leon sees that here were products of every bioweapon syndicate, whether it was TriCell or Wesker's HCF. Then, seeing on CCTV that Grace and Xeno are in an area named Pandora, right here, an elite mercenary unit hired by Connections attacks Leon. Fighting them, dormant B.O.W.s like Lickers are also released in this fight. And as Leon escapes from all, he reads that Ark is the biggest hub of bioweapons in North America. And Connections was now controlling this facility. Also, there's a hint here that maybe these B.O.W. companies and the United States government are in league.
Then Leon sees the black market price of B.O.W.s here, where one B.O.W sells for 30 to 120 million dollars. Right here, as Leon reaches Pandora, a mercenary like Hunk, who was the commander of the deployed unit here, attacks Leon with his axe. And as Leon and the commander fall down from this facility, this whole fight was melee-based. In which this commander fights with Hunk's fighting style, CQC B.J. And he grabs Leon's head and tries to give him a cough syrup like Hunk. But Leon reverses it. In this fight, Leon strikes the commander's neck with his axe and defeats him. Then Leon says this guy was very tough. And I'll talk about this commander at the end of the video.
Right here now, as Leon reaches Pandora, he hears from Xeno that even though technology to control others already exists, this technology is not as effective as LP. Maybe Xeno is talking about Connections' bioweapon "A-LIN" here, and maybe he's just talking about controlling others with social media. Then Xeno reveals that Connections itself lobbied to missile-strike Raccoon City. Then he tells about LP, that this virus is hidden by Oswald Spencer behind a single password, which only his creation, Grace, would know. And if even one wrong password is entered in the panel, not only will the Ark be destroyed, but such an immense virus as LP will also be destroyed.
Right here, Leon tries to fight Xeno. And Xeno had injected himself with a Wesker-like virus. Because of this, he also has super speed and regenerative powers. But Xeno had absolutely no aura like Wesker. Also, Leon was becoming very weak from the T-infection now. And as Xeno overpowers Leon, Grace threatens to kill herself. Here, Leon sabotages this facility's elevator and falls with Grace into the Ark's dumpyard. Where now, Leon vomits blood and is in very bad condition. But he will destroy LP no matter what. Then Grace says she won't leave Leon alone either. Saying this, Leon makes Grace promise that even if Leon dies, Grace must still destroy LP.
Now in further events, Leon and Grace separate again. Both reach Pandora to destroy LP. But Grace reaches the Ark's archive room here. Here, Grace sees a proprietary disk similar to her mother's. This reminds her that her mother's disk was still in her bag. And as Grace inserts this disk into the facility, she sees here that Alyssa Ashcroft interviewed Oswald Spencer before Umbrella was closed. And from this interview, it is revealed that by late 1990, Oswald Spencer had lost command of Umbrella. And he wanted to atone for his mistakes. Therefore, he wanted to give an interview to a journalist like Alyssa to tell the world his side of the story.
In this, Oswald talks about LP, the Greek goddess of hope. And he says "hope" a lot. Then he shows Alyssa that to achieve happiness in his life, he adopted a helpless orphan child, who was Grace. And this child, Oswald, not for any experiment, but to calm his guilt, he thought of giving a child a good life. And he named this child Grace. Right here, Oswald gives the responsibility of taking care of this child to Alyssa. And he says that he hopes this interview he gave to Alyssa will be like a requiem for the people killed by his viruses. Requiem means bidding farewell to dead people with rituals so their souls get peace. In Arabic, it's also called Janazah. And in requiem, there's a Christian ceremony performed to honor and remember the dead.
Now as Grace acknowledges that she was an orphan, in the meantime, Leon, bro, had become very infected. And he starts feeling dizzy even while walking. And right here, vomiting blood outside Pandora, Leon faints. Grace sees this on CCTV and quickly reaches Leon. Right here, in a stubborn state, Leon makes Grace put any wrong code in this panel, making sure she has to destroy LP.
Right here, Grace tells Xeno that she now knows the password. And the question to release this virus was: what does the creator of this virus want? And right here, this game has two endings: one very bad and the second canon good ending.
Bad Ending
First, in the bad ending, if Grace doesn't understand what Oswald wanted to say from his interview, and wanting to destroy LP as Leon said, if she enters the wrong destruction password here, the facility self-destructs. And Leon, in a half-dead state, saves Grace from falling here in the facility. Leon loses the fight to Xeno here. And he was happy that at least he could save Grace. Right here, Leon falls to his knees from his illness, and Xeno kills Leon here. And Xeno also dies in this facility's destruction. And here, only Grace remains as the sole survivor. I mean, in this ending, there was nothing except Leon's death.
Canon Good Ending
But right here, in the canon ending, Grace understands Oswald's last wish: that he wanted to give hope to the world. Grace releases LP here. Xeno, in a hurry, injects its vial into himself. And right here, Xeno's Wesker-like powers instantly vanish. And Grace also explains to Leon that LP was not a mind control virus. Rather, it is the antiviral for all viruses created by Umbrella.
Right here, Victor Gideon also, surviving the joust with Leon, calls his master Oswald Spencer a genius. As Xeno says that Grace and Emily had no link, and why did Victor waste his money? Victor first explains that Spencer's report was incomplete. Then Victor doesn't understand Spencer's will here. And in his madness, he understands that Oswald wanted to make all viruses useless and plunge the world into chaos. As Victor says this, as Xeno, from Connections, gets angry at Victor, Victor says that even after death, Oswald taught Connections a lesson. And Victor tells Xeno here that he is nothing but an imitation of Wesker. Saying this, Victor's arm, modified with the Nemesis parasite, mutates, and he blows off Xeno's throat.
Then, as Victor injures Grace and speaks his dialogues, Grace quickly injects this LP into Leon. Leon is instantly cured of the T-Virus infection. And now as Victor breaks the first floor of Pandora, Leon saves Grace. Victor understands here that Spencer wanted to spread anarchy. To fulfill his master's will, he will try to destroy everything. But first, he has to defeat Leon. With the T-infection leash off a predator like Leon, he was an unchained predator. And defeating Victor mutation after mutation, Leon finishes Victor's final mutation with a jackpot shot from his Requiem gun.
But now, after the Pandora area is destroyed, Leon can't establish communication with Sherry. And there was no way out from here. And as this whole facility starts to destroy, Leon doesn't leave Grace alone. And as the facility's lights go out, Leon accepts staying with Grace forever. But right here, Chris Redfield's Hound Wolf Squad arrives. This guy tells Leon that Captain Redfield sent him to save him.
On the surface, Leon tells Sherry that he's feeling very good because of LP. And he has also kept a vial for Sherry. Right here, Leon jokes, couldn't Chris send his guys any faster, and where is Chris? Asking this, Leon doesn't know Chris's location, but he says they'll meet soon. Right here, Hound Wolf also treated Grace. And as Grace wishes she could also save Emily, Leon tells her that he didn't attack Emily's vital organs, so she might be alive.
As Leon returns to the White House in his chopper, after finding a facility like Ark, the Justice Department restarts the investigation against Umbrella and Spencer. Alyssa Ashcroft's death also happened to hide this truth. And some organizations are controlling the government. The media says this, but the government calls questions about its involvement in controlling the Ark and why it increased the lockdown in Raccoon City baseless.
Post-Credit Scene
Right here now, in the post-credit scene, they show Grace talking to Leon, asking about Sherry's well-being. And Grace tells that Emily has now fully recovered. Her eyesight has also become normal. And Grace is teaching Emily how to read. Right here, Grace's FBI boss asks for the report that he sent Grace to make at the Rainwood Hotel at the start of the game. And right here, the camera shows us a photo of Grace, Alyssa, and Emily, in which Emily looked like Griffith.
Then here, they most probably show a teaser for DLC content. In which, a unit hired by Connections neutralized deployed B.S.A.A. soldiers. And they recover some samples or Xeno's body from the Ark and leave before Hound Wolf Squad arrives. And that was the end of RE9.
The Commander Theory
So before going into the report made by Grace, I need to talk about the commander. So my copium dose is refusing to believe that the commander was Hunk himself. But the way the commander fights (CQC BJ), his voice actor being Hunk's voice actor – with all this evidence, it's almost confirmed that Leon fought Hunk himself. But right here, even after striking the axe on Hunk's neck, we don't see Hunk's blood. I mean, when you wound the neck, there is blood spillage. That was missing. Maybe Hunk survived Leon's axe shot. And who knows, in RE9's free DLC content, Hunk also escapes from the crumbling Ark facility, just like he did in RE2. And also, Hunk has been injured many times where everyone thought Hunk was killed. But he always survives. That's how he got the moniker "Human Unit Never Killed." And he was known as Mr. Death.
Grace's Report Summary
Right here now, moving on to Grace's report, this report is 60 pages long. And the most important things in it are that the Connections syndicate is currently the number one supplier of bioweapons. Also, in 1998, Connections itself lobbied the government to remove Umbrella's bioweapon monopoly, and they had the missile strike on Raccoon City carried out so that heavy action would be taken against Umbrella, and all illegal activities would be blamed on Spencer. And like this, by 2004, Umbrella's stock collapsed, and Umbrella went bankrupt. This allowed Connections to emerge as the number one bioweapon syndicate.
Also, this report says that the experiments Umbrella conducted on children at the Raccoon City Orphanage were not authorized by Oswald Spencer. Rather, this orphanage came under William Birkin. And he allowed experiments on children. And by 1990, Spencer realized that he had lost control of Umbrella. And his company had reached far from human evolution. So, to defeat all rival companies like Connections, TriCell, HCF, The Family, even the bioweapons created by Umbrella, Spencer created LP here – the antiviral of hope.
And rival companies only knew this much about LP: that it would upset the world military balance. With this, people started making their own theories about what LP would be. Maybe it would be a mind control virus. They all started understanding this themselves. But it's funny that no rival organization could crack Spencer's four-letter password.
Then Connections and the US government together control all bioweapons from Umbrella's Ark facility. Then, when a host president like Adam Benford comes to the US government and tries to ban bioweapons, and as soon as they think about making public the US government's involvement in Raccoon City, organizations like The Family, probably commanded by Connections, assassinate the president himself. Right here now, the core B.S.A.A. is also sold to Connections. And that's why Chris Redfield is gathering all evidence with his Hound Wolf Task Force. And maybe in the next Resident Evil, Chris succeeds in breaking Connections' connections.
