My Demon Episode 8 opens dramatically with Gu-won bleeding on the ground after being stabbed by Gwang-chol. Bok-gyu intervenes, pushing Gwang-chol away and causing half his mask to fall off — revealing part of his face to Gu-won and the swarm of reporters snapping photos.

At the police station, Do-hee learns of the attack. Detective Kyung-soo believes in her innocence but is constrained by superiors. With no solid evidence against her, he quietly helps her sneak out to visit Gu-won at the hospital, where Seok-hoon drives her. The doctor had warned Ga-young and Bok-gyu that Gu-won lost massive amounts of blood and suffered severe heart valve damage — his survival through the night was uncertain.

Ga-young angrily blames Do-hee for Gu-won’s condition, but Bok-gyu pulls her away. Do-hee stays by his side, holding his hand. Seok-hoon notices the unusual closeness. Gu-won’s powers slowly help him recover; he regains consciousness and immediately teases Do-hee. Relieved, she embraces him tightly and breaks down in tears. Still weak, he needs extensive recharging to heal fully.

After confirming Gu-won will survive, Do-hee returns to the station. Her arrest warrant is later dismissed due to lack of evidence. Meanwhile, the Arabica woman ominously hints that saving Gu-won will bring trouble for Do-hee. Ga-young begins accepting the special bond between Gu-won and Do-hee, especially after hearing him call for Do-hee even in his sleep. Gu-won suffers nightmares of combusting and dying.

The next morning, Gu-won wakes up bossy yet anxious about Do-hee. She arrives at the hospital, now free, and finds the mafia gang stationed outside his room — loyally protecting their new “boss” in surprisingly endearing fashion. Gu-won instantly brightens, playfully insisting she is his best medicine and trying to leave the hospital despite his condition.

At the office, employees are relieved to hear Gu-won is stable. Public opinion dramatically shifts in Do-hee’s favor after news of the attack on Gu-won spreads — people now sympathize with her. Do-gyeon panics after learning Gu-won saw half his face; he hides in fear, convinced Gu-won will come for him soon.

Back home, Gu-won recharges slowly through close contact with Do-hee. The next day, despite his injury, he insists on accompanying her to work. After more playful bickering, Da-jeong drives them both (with Bok-gyu tagging along). Do-hee allows Gu-won to recharge freely now that they are officially married.

Employees excitedly prepare a hospital-discharge-style party for Gu-won. The celebration nearly turns disastrous when banners almost catch fire — triggering Gu-won to freeze in fear. Bok-gyu later confronts him privately. Gu-won confesses his recurring nightmare of combustion, his flickering powers, and his terror of becoming fully human and losing his demonic nature.

Ga-young visits Do-hee and harshly accuses her of being selfish and dragging Gu-won into her dangerous life. She urges Do-hee to handle her problems alone. On her way out, Ga-young publicly embraces Gu-won, then privately warns him about the risks of becoming human and losing his powers. Gu-won neither confirms nor denies his feelings for Do-hee.

That night, Do-hee and Gu-won lie to each other about their conversations with Ga-young. Unable to sleep, Do-hee stands on the balcony, where Cheon-sook’s spirit appears. Do-hee confesses her torn feelings — wanting justice for Cheon-sook but terrified of losing Gu-won. Cheon-sook gently advises her to protect and care for the living. After reflection, Do-hee calls Seok-hoon, saying they need to talk.

The next morning, Gu-won hides his painkillers from Do-hee. At the board meeting, she stuns everyone by withdrawing her candidacy for chairwoman. Suk-min and his family rejoice, assuming Seok-hoon has abandoned her. Gu-won demands an explanation; Do-hee coldly says she can no longer trust him to protect her — or even himself.

Do-gyeon watches their argument with interest and texts Gwang-chol that Gu-won’s powers are failing, relieving Gwang-chol. Later, Seok-hoon reveals to Gu-won that Do-hee withdrew to protect him — she has lost too many loved ones and refuses to lose him too.

Gu-won finds Do-hee in Cheon-sook’s garden. She insists he will die if he stays involved in her fight. He replies that he doesn’t care. Closing the distance, he kisses her passionately. As the garden sprinklers turn on, they continue kissing under the artificial rain — delivering one of the most memorable and intense K-drama kisses of the year.

The episode closes with Gu-won’s narration: Do-hee is his fate, and he will stay by her side — even if his growing feelings for her make him human.

Episode Review

Episode 8 delivers one of the most emotionally charged and romantically satisfying installments yet. The leads’ chemistry reaches new heights — from tender recharging moments to the explosive, rain-soaked kiss that silences every doubter. The use of “recharging” as an excuse for closeness is both adorable and clever, building beautifully to the long-awaited confession of feelings.

The narrative continues to balance fantasy, romance, thriller elements, and family drama perfectly. Do-hee’s decision to step back from the chairmanship out of fear for Gu-won’s life adds genuine emotional weight to her character. Gu-won’s internal struggle — torn between his demonic nature and emerging humanity — becomes increasingly compelling.

With public opinion shifting, the mafia gang pledging loyalty, Do-gyeon and Gwang-chol panicking, and the couple finally embracing their feelings, the series enters its “dating era” with tremendous momentum. Halfway through, My Demon remains a standout weekend must-watch — thrilling, heartfelt, and consistently engaging. Here’s hoping the writers maintain this level of quality through the end.
