It's been almost 20 years since his death, but the whole world still remembers him. Saddam Hussein's country, Iraq, has a very deep connection with Islam. Great prophets of Islam – Ibrahim (Alaihis Salam), Lut (Alaihis Salam), and Yunus (Alaihis Salam) – were all born in Iraq. But despite these prophets, the people there had completely forgotten one God and had started worshipping fire instead.

After Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), the first Caliph of Islam, Abu Bakr (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu), after conquering all of Arabia, ordered his general Khalid bin Walid to go and conquer Iraq first – the first in the entire world. And General Khalid bin Walid did just that. For the first time, Iraq came under Muslim control. It was such a conquest that for the next 1,300 years, no one could snatch Iraq from the Muslims.

The Fall of the Ottoman Empire and British Rule

But about 100 years ago, when the Ottoman Caliphate ruled Iraq, a huge war began in the world: World War I. In this war, the British Empire snatched Iraq from the Muslims for the first time. After taking it, they installed their own puppet king in Iraq. And not just there, they placed puppet kings everywhere across Arabia. All other kings are still sitting firmly on their thrones today with full power. But the king of Iraq couldn't hold onto his country. Shortly after, the king of Iraq was removed from his throne, a huge confusion spread throughout Iraq, and Iraq's leaders started changing very rapidly.

Birth of an Orphan

Amidst this confusion in Iraq, in a small village, an orphan child was born whose name was Saddam Hussein. Some consider him a hero, and some a cruel dictator. Saddam Hussein was both. But Saddam was no ordinary child. His father had died before he was born. And when Saddam's mother learned of her husband's death, she tried to commit suicide even before Saddam was born.

Because he was an orphan, Saddam Hussein's friends used to tease him since childhood. It is said that because of this, at a very young age, Saddam always carried a steel rod with him, and whenever a child teased him, he would hit that child directly on the head with the steel rod. Meaning, since childhood, there was no such thing as fear in Saddam Hussein's heart.

Joining the Ba'ath Party

Shortly after, when Saddam Hussein's mother remarried, his stepfather began oppressing him so much that at just 10 years old, he ran away from home and went to live with his uncle. And from here, his life changed forever. Because his uncle was associated with a small political party in Iraq called the Ba'ath Party. This party had only 100 or 200 people. When Saddam Hussein joined this party at a young age, everyone in the party knew that Saddam's age was very low, but he was the most violent and brave member of this party.

The Assassination Attempt

As soon as Saddam Hussein joined this party, its members, along with America's CIA, were planning to kill Iraq's then Prime Minister. It was such a difficult plan that they needed very dangerous guys for this job. So, of course, they chose Saddam Hussein, only 24 years old, for this task. Saddam Hussein, with his team, went and sprayed the Prime Minister's cars with bullets. But even after this attack, the Prime Minister survived. After this, Saddam was forced to flee Iraq towards Egypt.

Rise to Power

Now, Saddam Hussein's mission had failed. But seeing his bravery, some powerful people in the world were very impressed with him. Like the American CIA. The CIA started preparing Saddam Hussein as the future leader of Iraq. Because shortly after, when Saddam's party came to power in Iraq, Saddam Hussein returned to Iraq and, at just 30 years old, became the second most powerful person in Iraq.

Now Iraq was an independent country, but all of Iraq's oil and gas were under British control. So as soon as Saddam Hussein got power, he first took control of all of Iraq's oil and gas. From here, Saddam Hussein started becoming a hero for the people of Iraq.

The 1973 Oil Crisis

Because as soon as he took control of Iraq's oil, suddenly in 1973, a huge war started between Israel and the Arabs again. The Arab countries had surrounded Israel from all sides. But in this war, Israel had the full support of the superpower, America. And because of this American support, Israel easily defeated the big Arab countries. Seeing this, the King of Saudi Arabia, King Faisal, got very angry with America. To teach America a lesson, he gathered all the Arab countries, and together they decided that from today onwards, we will not sell Arab oil to America – Israel's friend.

This was a huge shock for America because at that time, America used to buy 80% of its oil from Arab countries. So as soon as King Faisal imposed this ban on America, oil prices worldwide didn't double, didn't triple, but increased four times. The price of a barrel of oil went from $3 to $12. Now all this was meant to weaken America. But the biggest advantage of this was taken by Iraq's young leader, Saddam Hussein.

Building Modern Iraq

Saddam Hussein used these new oil prices to make Iraq a modern country. He brought electricity to every village in Iraq. Built free schools and hospitals for the people of Iraq. In short, Saddam Hussein made Iraq so strong that one Iraqi Dinar was equal to $3. And along with all this, Saddam Hussein brought the entire Iraqi army under his control.

The Godfather Influence

But leaving all this aside, here Saddam Hussein got the biggest inspiration of his life. A Hollywood film was released in America: The Godfather – the story of a mafia Don, the Corleone family. It is said that Saddam Hussein liked this film so much that he completely changed his personality and started copying everything from this film. He started wearing the same clothes that the Godfather hero wore, the same hat, and most importantly, both used to smoke cigars in exactly the same style.

Becoming President

In short, because of all these things, Saddam Hussein had now become the most powerful person in Iraq, even more than Iraq's President. So, of course, Saddam Hussein ordered Iraq's President, "You are old now. You can't handle it anymore. Resign quietly and go straight home."

Now, as soon as Saddam Hussein became President, the whole world saw that after a long time, a new leader, just like Hitler, had emerged. Because just six days after becoming President, Saddam Hussein called a meeting of all his party members, sat them in front of him, and said, "There has been a big conspiracy to remove me from the throne of Iraq, and the people who conspired are present in this room right now." Hearing this, the breath of everyone sitting down there stopped. But Saddam Hussein, completely at ease, first lit his cigar and then started naming every person involved in the conspiracy. Saddam Hussein ordered that whoever's name I take, get up quietly and leave the hall. Some people left easily, and some were forced out. This way, Saddam Hussein named a total of 68 people. Some were put in jail, and the rest were shot. The people who remained in the hall started chanting Saddam Hussein's name loudly. And this is how Saddam Hussein began his reign of fear.

The Iran-Iraq War

Meaning, at this time, Saddam Hussein was at the peak of his power. But here he made the first big mistake of his life. Saddam attacked the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini. In 1979, when Saddam Hussein became the leader of Iraq, at the same time, a new government was also formed in Iran under Ayatollah Khomeini. Imam Khomeini's revolution was so big that the whole world started fearing him. Khomeini had removed a very powerful king from his throne in Iran. And now Imam Khomeini was inspiring the people of other Arab countries to rise up and rebel against their kings too. That's why all the Arab kings started hating Iran's Imam Khomeini. And not just Arab countries, Imam Khomeini was repeatedly threatening the superpower America and its friend Israel in his speeches.

But still, the greatest and biggest threat from Imam Khomeini was to one person: Saddam Hussein. Because Saddam Hussein was a Sunni President of Iraq, and the majority of Iraq's population was Shia, who considered their real leader not Saddam Hussein but Imam Khomeini. And Saddam Hussein knew this very well. So much so that once Saddam Hussein called Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini the Dajjal (Antichrist).

Therefore, just one year after becoming President, with the full support of the superpower America and the Arab kings, Saddam Hussein attacked the government of Ayatollah Khomeini in Iran and rapidly conquered a lot of territory from Iran. Because of this, thousands of Muslims started dying on both sides. Now, on one side was Saddam Hussein with the support of the whole world, and on the other side was Imam Khomeini alone. But still, Saddam Hussein couldn't do much to Iran. Shortly after the war began, Saddam Hussein tried to agree to a ceasefire with Khomeini. But this time, Imam Khomeini refused to stop the war. Because after a long time, this war had united the entire Iranian nation behind one leader, Imam Khomeini.

After this, Imam Khomeini announced that this war would only end when Iraq's President Saddam Hussein was removed from his throne. With this announcement, Iran attacked Saddam Hussein. And after conquering a lot of territory, the Iranian army entered Iraq for the first time. Until now, Iraq earned all its money by selling oil. So Khomeini closed all of Iraq's routes for selling oil. After this, the entire Iraqi army started retreating from all sides.

Turning Point and Chemical Weapons

Now finally, Saddam Hussein started getting scared because his government was about to run out of money completely. So Saddam Hussein was forced to take loans from everyone: America, Saudi, Kuwait. Meaning, Saddam's conditions had become so bad that one day in a very important meeting, Iraq's Health Minister told his President Saddam Hussein, "Mr. President, I think we should now accept Imam Khomeini's demand and you should resign from the throne of Iraq." Hearing this, Saddam looked at him intently and asked all the other ministers present, "Does anyone else agree with this minister?" Of course, due to fear of Saddam, no one raised their hand. After this, Saddam Hussein dragged this minister to the next room and shot him in the head with his own hands.

After this, Saddam Hussein had gone completely mad with anger. He even attacked his own country's rebellious people with chemical weapons.

Finally, when Iran's power started increasing too much, the superpower America also openly joined this war against Iran, stationed its warships near Iran's borders, and even shot down an Iranian passenger plane, in which America martyred 300 innocent people. Finally, after 8 years of a dangerous war, both countries announced a ceasefire, and this war ended. Neither country gained anything from this war, and 1 million Muslims were killed for no reason. The only two countries that benefited from this war were China and Israel, which kept making money by selling weapons to both Iraq and Iran.

The Invasion of Kuwait

Finally, after this war ended, Iraq's economy started rising again, and Saddam Hussein's power started increasing once more. Seeing this, the Arab countries told Saddam, "Now that everything is fine, please return our billions of dollars in loans." To this, Saddam Hussein replied, "Which money? This war I fought on your insistence against Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini, and now you all are asking me for money? Get out of here. I will not give a single rupee to anyone."

Until now, the entire Arab world had stood with Saddam Hussein. But seeing this defiance, the Arab kings started turning against him. Especially the king of Kuwait. Kuwait is a very small country next to Iraq's border. But this small country is one of the world's biggest oil countries. So as soon as Saddam Hussein refused to return Kuwait's loan, Kuwait deliberately increased its oil supply to weaken Saddam. This caused oil prices to drop worldwide, which was a huge shock to Iraq's economy. This made Saddam Hussein very angry, and he thought, "What is this small country's status that it dares to show me, Saddam Hussein, attitude?"

So, in 1990, suddenly at 2:00 AM, Saddam Hussein attacked Kuwait with his full force. Kuwait's size was 25 times smaller than Iraq. So within just two days, Saddam Hussein had captured all of Kuwait. Seeing this, the King of Kuwait and the entire royal family fled Kuwait, except for one prince – the King's brother, Prince Fahad, who bravely stayed in his palace even after the Iraqi attack. But as soon as this prince fell into the hands of the Iraqi army, they first shot him in the head and then drove their tanks over his dead body.

After this, Saddam Hussein's fear spread throughout Arabia. After making a rich country like Kuwait his own province, Saddam Hussein became the most powerful leader not just of Iraq but of the entire Arab world. But attacking Kuwait was the biggest mistake of Saddam Hussein's life.

America's Trap

Because before the attack, Saddam Hussein had a meeting with America, in which America clearly told him, "We have nothing to do with the Arabs' war." But this was a huge lie. America just wanted to trap Saddam. Not because America cared about Kuwaitis, but because America wanted, using Saddam as an excuse, to permanently send its army towards the Arab world, establish its bases there, and that's exactly what happened. America very cunningly started frightening other Arab countries with Saddam Hussein's power. America even showed the Saudi King fake pictures of Iraqi tanks, suggesting that if Saddam wasn't stopped, his next target would be Saudi Arabia. "So, if you want to get rid of Saddam Hussein, you'll have to give America's army bases inside Saudi Arabia." After which, of course, the Saudi King gave America the bases. But the people of Saudi Arabia were not happy about this at all. Especially a Saudi named Osama bin Laden.

The First Gulf War

Now America started directly threatening Saddam Hussein: "If you don't retreat from Kuwait, we will attack you." But when Saddam didn't retreat, America attacked Saddam's forces from its new bases in Arabia and liberated all of Kuwait in just one month.

But while retreating from Kuwait, Saddam did something for which many people in the world still consider him a hero. As soon as America attacked Iraq, Saddam Hussein knew he couldn't do much to America. So he turned his missiles towards America's friend, Israel, for the first time. He attacked Israel's capital with 40 missiles.

The Change in Saddam

After this attack on Israel, America, Saudi, and Israel all understood that now the time had come to remove Saddam Hussein. So now that the whole world had turned against Saddam Hussein, seeing this, Saddam Hussein completely transformed himself. Until now, Saddam was a completely liberal and secular man. Now, in every speech and everywhere he went, he started raising his voice for the rights of Islam and Muslims. Saddam Hussein made reading the Quran a mandatory subject in every school in Iraq. That Saddam Hussein, who until now drank alcohol himself and made others drink, banned drinking alcohol throughout Iraq. For the first time, Allahu Akbar was written on Iraq's flag. And even Saddam Hussein ordered several liters of his own blood to be taken to write a Quran with his own blood. Saddam was doing all this so that his people would protect him from the superpower America in the name of Allah and Islam. But by now, it was impossible to do so.

Sanctions and Betrayal

Because America had imposed so many sanctions on Saddam Hussein's government that he couldn't sell even a single drop of oil to anyone. His economy was completely destroyed. To the point that under Saddam's government, the people of Iraq started longing for basic necessities. And this is America's old habit. American sanctions are just like a lion waiting for its prey to die after grabbing its neck in its teeth, so it can eat it comfortably.

Finally, after America's sanctions, Iraq's conditions became so bad that Saddam Hussein received the biggest shock of his life. Suddenly one day, Saddam Hussein's two top generals fled Iraq. And a few days later, these generals appeared before the whole world's TV cameras and said that Saddam Hussein is a very cruel dictator, and all big countries should unite to remove Saddam from his throne. Along with this, they said a very dangerous thing: that Saddam intended to build an atomic bomb for Iraq.

Saddam Hussein was very hurt by the words of these generals because they were not ordinary generals; they were also the husbands of Saddam's two daughters. So now that Saddam's son-in-law had spoken against him, America got the excuse it needed on how and when to remove Saddam.

Even after his sons-in-law's rebellion, Saddam Hussein sent them a message: "I am ready to forgive you both if you return to Iraq immediately with my daughters." But as soon as their plane landed in Iraq, Saddam ordered them to divorce his daughters. And within hours of this divorce, both were killed.

The Brutal Sons

A long time after this, Saddam Hussein's daughter was interviewed. The interviewer asked her, "Who killed your husband? Did your father, Saddam Hussein, kill him?" She said, "No." The interviewer asked again, "Then who killed him? Did your brother kill him?" Saddam's daughter said, "Yes, our husbands were killed by our brother." Her brother, meaning Saddam Hussein's eldest son, Uday Saddam Hussein – Iraq's biggest don, who considered himself even more powerful than his father. Seeing his atrocities, big Hollywood films were also made. He was famous in Iraq for his torture, rape, and lavish parties. It is said that every respectable woman in Iraq was afraid of coming before Saddam's son. He would kidnap anyone anytime, and no one could say anything to him because it was his father's country. He would shoot anyone anywhere in Iraq.

Saddam Hussein was very tired of his son because of these actions, but what could he do? He couldn't even say anything to him. "What should I do with him? What can I do? Can't even kill him. He loves me so much." In whose garage stood every luxury car in the world. But Saddam also got all his dirty work done by this same son. That's why Saddam gave the task of killing his daughters' husbands to this same son, who went and killed them within hours.

The Road to War

Now, Saddam Hussein's sons-in-law were dead, but the words they had spoken were still alive: Saddam's chemical and atomic bombs. Now America had the excuse to attack Saddam Hussein. They were just waiting for some event in the world through which they could easily attack Iraq. And such an event happened right at the beginning of the new century: the attack on America's World Trade Center.

America's President, George Bush, tried very hard to somehow blame this attack on Iraq's Saddam Hussein, so that after attacking Iraq, America could seize all its oil. But despite trying very hard, when he found no evidence, he was forced to leave Iraq and attack Afghanistan instead. But the problem was that Afghanistan was thousands of kilometers away from America, and America needed a lot of oil again to send its tanks, planes, and trucks that far. So, shortly after attacking Afghanistan, America once again started making false accusations against Iraq's Saddam Hussein.

America started repeatedly airing the interview of Saddam's same son-in-law, in which he had clearly said that Saddam Hussein has chemical and atomic bombs. But all this was completely false because when the UN sent its team to Iraq to find these bombs, they found no such bomb anywhere in Iraq. But still, America wasn't backing down from its lie.

Global Protests Against War

Now, to stop a superpower like America, common people around the world came out on the streets. 30 million people in 600 cities of the world protested against the attack on Iraq. This is the biggest protest in world history to date. But America didn't care about these things. It had gone crazy over Iraq's oil.

So, in 2003, America's President suddenly appeared on TV and said that Saddam Hussein and his two sons have only two days to leave Iraq and flee, otherwise America will attack them in a way the whole world will remember. But, of course, Saddam Hussein remained on his throne even after the superpower America's threat. Saddam and his sons didn't go anywhere. So now America had no other option.

The Invasion of Iraq

America attacked Iraq with its full force. America and its allies dropped thousands of bombs on Iraq. By now, Saddam had become so weak that America conquered all of Iraq in just one month. Seeing this, of course, Saddam and his two sons fled from the American army and hid in different places. After this, the American army started searching for these father and sons everywhere and announced throughout Iraq that the reward for Saddam's sons' heads was $15 million each, and for the father's head, $25 million.

The Fate of Saddam's Sons

Now, finding Saddam Hussein was very difficult, but his two sons were hiding together at the house of a very close friend. It is said that these two brothers used to play video games all day long for many days. But as soon as America placed a $15 million bounty on each of their heads, their trusted friend also fell for the greed of this money and forgot their friendship. "Friend no longer remained a friend." He told Saddam's sons, "I have a very important task, a very important task, to go somewhere." This friend went straight to the American CIA and told them, "I have both of Saddam's sons." Hearing this, America gave him a reward of $30 million, which today would be about 1300 crore rupees.

America surrounded the house of Saddam's sons from all sides. But instead of surrendering, both of Saddam's sons attacked the American army with AK-47s and rocket launchers. Finally, after 3 hours of fierce fighting, America blew up both brothers with a missile. As soon as the American army entered the house, they saw both of Saddam's sons lying dead on the ground. But even now, someone inside the house was still firing at them. When they looked carefully, they realized it was a small child firing at them. This small child was none other than Saddam's grandson, Mustafa Saddam Hussein, who, even at such a young age, was not ready to surrender before the Americans. After which, America shot and killed this child too.

Now when this news reached their father, Saddam Hussein, and he was told that both his sons had been killed, he first asked, "Did my sons surrender, or were they martyred fighting the Americans?" He was told that both your sons fought the American army until their last drop of blood. Hearing this, Saddam said, "O Allah, thank you so much for giving me such brave sons." After which, Saddam Hussein came on the radio and gave a speech saying, "My two sons have been martyred. But if I had 100 more sons like them, I would sacrifice them all for my nation."

Capture of Saddam Hussein

Finally, after searching for many months, America found out that Saddam Hussein was very fond of eating a particular fish. And following the trail of this fish, an old friend of Saddam Hussein led the American army to his hideout. It was a very shabby, broken hut. But even inside this hut, the Americans found no one. As the American army was about to leave, thinking it was false information, that man, Saddam's friend, pointed with his foot towards a rope and said, "Pull it." Following this rope, the American army reached an underground tunnel. As an American soldier was about to throw a grenade into this tunnel, suddenly a long-bearded man emerged from the hole and said, "I am the President of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, and I am ready to surrender."

The Saddam who used to roam in the world's most expensive palaces and luxury cars was now caught in a tunnel where there wasn't even room to stand, with just one light and a small fan inside.

Trial and Execution

America kept Saddam Hussein in its custody for a long time, and finally, after a year, Saddam Hussein was presented in an Iraqi court before the world's cameras. The world was stunned to see that this was no longer the old powerful and arrogant Saddam, but a weak old man with a white beard. But as soon as the judge asked this old Saddam his name, Saddam told him, "The whole of Iraq, in fact the whole world, knows my name. I don't need to tell you." Meaning, even after losing everything, Saddam was not ready to bow his head.

Saddam repeatedly told the judges, "You people are not judges, just agents of America." And to mock them, he would keep laughing at them in court. Sometimes he would stop the whole case and tell everyone to offer Namaz, and sometimes he would boycott the entire court. Finally, because of these cases, Saddam was once again becoming a hero. So, in 2006, the court finally sentenced Saddam Hussein to death.

Now, on hearing his death sentence, instead of crying and wailing, Saddam started loudly chanting slogans against Israel and America and repeatedly raised slogans for Palestine and the rights of Muslims. Saddam Hussein's last wish in life was to be shot by a gun like a soldier. But his demand was rejected, and a few days later, he was hanged before the whole world.

Aftermath and America's Mistakes

America thought that after removing Saddam, Iraq would become a very peaceful country. But this didn't happen at all because after removing Saddam, America made some very big mistakes. The American army killed millions of people in Iraq. They restarted the Shia-Sunni conflict in Iraq. But the biggest mistake was that they ordered Saddam's entire army to be removed from their jobs and sent home. Because of this, overnight, a million-strong army, which had guns, weapons, everything, became jobless and started forming a new army of their own choice in Iraq. Seeing this, anger grew in Saddam's million-strong army and their generals, and they started gathering everywhere in Iraq, planning an even bigger rebellion, which later came to be known as... [likely ISIS or Al-Qaeda in Iraq].

After America's attack, conditions in Iraq became so bad that Iraqis started hating Americans. So much so that when America's President George Bush first visited Iraq, shoes were thrown at his head live.

The Legacy of a Mistake

America attacked Iraq based on lies. And the whole world accepts this today. "A million people in Iran... The war was a big fat mistake. George Bush's mistake."

After Saddam Hussein's execution, there was a huge meeting of all the Arab leaders of the world, where all the big kings of Arabia were sitting. Suddenly, a big Arab leader climbed onto the stage with a picture of Saddam Hussein's execution and told all the Arab kings, "Even now, if we don't stop America, I swear America will finish us all one by one after this." This leader's name was Muammar Gaddafi. And his statement was absolutely correct because after killing Saddam Hussein, America's next target was Muammar Gaddafi. Subscribe.
