Has Undercover Miss Hong been renewed for Season 2

Undercover Miss Hong is the latest intriguing drama on Netflix, sporting some decent characterisation, great acting and a solid story across its extended run. If you've been following this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here's what we know:

What is Undercover Miss Hong about?

Set in the late 1990s, Hong Geum-bo is an elite supervisor working for the Financial Supervisory Service. With suspicious financial activity on the rise, she goes undercover as a 20-year-old graduate named Hong Jang-mi, infiltrating a securities company at the centre of the investigation.

Whilst there, she crosses paths with Shin Jung-woo, the newly appointed CEO of Hanmin Securities. He's a ruthless corporate raider and gifted strategist. He'll do whatever it takes to win.

Complicating matters is the fact that Jang-mi looks identical to Geum-bo… and to the woman Jung-woo once loved.

Has Undercover Miss Hong been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, tvN have not renewed Undercover Miss Hong for season 2. Given the ratings over the weeks, it'll be interesting to see if they actually do renew this for a follow-up.

The ratings began with a pretty average 3.5% share nationwide but since then, the show has been steadily increasing every week, with the later episodes hovering around 11.8% nationwide, so it's certainly a positive trend and showing an increase in popularity!

Regardless of ratings, it's extremely rare to find Korean dramas renewed for another season. That has changed in recent years but given the sheer wealth of talent in this that are sure to move onto other projects, we predict that Undercover Miss Hong will not be renewed for a second season.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Barely anything is known about season 2 right now. Given most Korean dramas are reserved to one season, it's rare to find these sort of shows renewed. With the rare exception of ongoing Netflix original shows (Love ft. Marriage and Divorce, Hospital Playlist etc.) then it seems unlikely that this one will be renewed.

Having said that though, we have seen Taxi Driver and Tale of the Nine Tailed renewed recently, alongside Alchemy of Souls too. Given how steady the ratings are for this series, could we see this one buck the trend? It seems very unlikely that Undercover Miss Hong will, but you never know! We'll be sure to update this section when we know more.
