Spring Fever Episode 3 Recap

Episode 3 of Spring Fever picks up from the tense moment inside the metro train, with Bom slipping and Jae-gyu rushing to catch her just in time. The shock brings an unexpected realisation. The two recognise each other from childhood, yet neither is ready to speak about it aloud. The silence lingers until Bom notices the man inside the metro whom she saw with Se-jin, and asks Jae-gyu to follow him to ask about Se-jin. To his surprise, the man turns out to be Yi-joon. The reunion is anything but warm, and the pair immediately fall into a cold, hostile stare-off, followed by a sharp, uncomfortable exchange. Bom steps in before it escalates further and calmly asks Yi-joon about Se-jin.

Yi-joon reveals that he is Se-jin’s elder brother, which instantly makes the situation awkward as the misunderstanding clears up. Once Se-jin’s safety is confirmed, Bom, Jae-gyu and Han-gyul begin their drive back. On the way, Jae-gyu decides they should rest for the night and stops at a hotel. Unfortunately, there is only a single family room available with one large bed and one small one. The situation starts off awkward, with everyone unsure how to behave, but they eventually settle in and manage to make it through the night peacefully.

During their stay, Jae-gyu rushes to save a drowning child, but the child’s mother mistakes his actions. Instead of thanking him, she slaps him in panic and anger. This moment opens up Bom’s buried trauma. We see a flashback in which a student’s mother once slapped Bom after falsely believing she was having an affair with her husband. Bom had been innocent, yet the humiliation and injustice left a deep wound that never fully healed. Seeing Jae-gyu slapped the same way triggers her, and she decides she cannot let it pass quietly.

Bom insists the woman watch the CCTV footage. When the truth is revealed, the mother realises that Jae-gyu had been trying to save her son. She apologises and the situation is finally resolved. The next day, while Bom and Jae-gyu discuss travelling to Seoul, one of the teachers overhears their conversation and warns Bom not to get close to Jae-gyu. She claims that Jae-gyu is not Han-gyul’s uncle but his father, explaining that she once saw a woman begging him to return her child. This new rumour plants confusion and doubt in Bom’s mind.

Later that night, Bom sees Jae-gyu trying to open a drain cover in the rain. Curious, she holds an umbrella over him and watches as he rescues a trapped puppy. He tells her how he once saved the same puppy during a landslide, revealing the gentle side beneath his rough exterior. They rush the injured dog to the vet, where Jae-gyu jokingly lists himself and Bom as the dog’s parents. When he names the puppy Han-gyul, Bom is briefly shocked after hearing the doctor call Jae-gyu the father of Han-gyul, until the misunderstanding clears. If no owner returns, Bom quietly decides she will adopt the dog herself.

Meanwhile, Yi-joon cannot shake his lingering feelings for Bom. Meeting her again ignites old hopes. He also runs into Jae-gyu, and when Jae-gyu returns the money Yi-joon once gave him, Yi-joon confesses he never came for the cash but for an apology. Jae-gyu walks away without a word, hinting at a broken friendship and unresolved past.

Han-gyul’s affection for Se-jin also grows stronger. He lends her his notes to help her beat him in exams and even offers her his umbrella. She instead pulls him under hers, completely unaware of how fast his heart is racing.

Later, Bom and Jae-gyu go out for dinner after their vet visit. Jae-gyu jokingly tells the waitress that Bom is his wife, which flusters her more than she wants to admit. Bom invites him to drink with her the next day, leaving him stunned and secretly hopeful. As they walk together at night, he hesitantly begins to ask if she feels the same, and she simply nods before he finishes. He believes he has his answer, but the truth behind that nod is a mystery that waits for the next episode.

Spring Fever Episode 3 Review

The episode smartly uses Bom’s trauma to deepen her character, showing how a single slap can reopen years of buried shame and injustice. Jae-gyu’s gentle heroism is highlighted through the drowning child and the injured puppy, revealing a softness that contrasts with the rumours surrounding him. The hotel stay, the awkward shared room and the subtle glances build tension without rushing their relationship, and the childhood-connection hint adds an intriguing layer to their dynamic.

The supporting stories also work well, especially Yi-joon’s complicated resentment and lingering love for Bom, and Han-gyul’s sweet, earnest crush on Se-jin. The scenes between the students are charming and sincere, giving the episode warmth alongside the heavier emotional beats. If there is a criticism, it is that the “one bed” trope and bar-style teasing about being husband and wife are very familiar, but the show handles them with enough sincerity that they still feel enjoyable rather than clichéd. Overall, the episode delivers heartfelt character growth, clearer mysteries around Jae-gyu and a promising romantic build-up, setting the stage nicely for the coming twist.
