Spring Fever Episode 9 Recap

Spring Fever episode 9 brings back strong 2016 K-drama vibes, mixing quiet heartbreak with soft romance. The episode resumes with Han-gyul confronting his uncle, Jae-gyu, about the truth behind his supposedly dead mother, who is actually alive. Caught off guard, Jae-gyu struggles to answer. His silence becomes the answer Han-gyul never wanted. Han-gyul misunderstands it as betrayal and believes Jae-gyu purposely hid his mother from him all these years.

The next morning, Jae-gyu tries to fix things in his own awkward way. After noticing that Han-gyul refuses to eat the breakfast he prepared, Jae-gyu suddenly arranges a large feast at Han-gyul’s school so his nephew will not skip meals. It is sweet, dramatic and very Jae-gyu. At the same time, Se-jin, who overheard the tense conversation the night before, asks Han-gyul to go out for ice cream, hoping to distract him from his sadness. Han-gyul, however, keeps his pain to himself and secretly rushes to Seoul without telling anyone.

Back in town, Bom keeps asking Jae-gyu about Han-gyul’s whereabouts. During the confusion, Jin-hyeok accidentally reveals that he once saw Bom and Jae-gyu hugging. That single comment exposes their relationship to everyone. The classroom freezes. Yi-joon is completely shocked and quietly heartbroken. What was once private suddenly becomes public, and the air turns awkward fast.

Meanwhile, Han-gyul’s friend mistakenly tells Se-jin that Han-gyul has gone to Seoul. Realising something is wrong, Se-jin immediately informs Jae-gyu. In Seoul, Han-gyul finally meets his mother. They spend time together, eat and talk like a normal family. She tells him that she never abandoned him and claims that Jae-gyu was the one who stopped her from visiting. She admits she has another family now, but insists that Han-gyul still means a lot to her.

Just when Han-gyul is about to leave, he returns to ask for her phone number. At that moment, he overhears her speaking on the phone with Jae-gyu. From the call, Han-gyul realises the painful truth. His mother did abandon him, and her warm words were only because Jae-gyu asked her to protect Han-gyul’s feelings. The fantasy shatters instantly.

Heartbroken, Han-gyul calls Se-jin. Se-jin asks her brother Yi-joon to drive her to Seoul. When they meet, emotions finally spill out. Han-gyul and Se-jin confess their feelings and officially begin their romance. It is simple, honest and comforting for both of them.

Back in town, Bom gently comforts Jae-gyu, who feels guilty for everything Han-gyul is going through. When Han-gyul returns home, he does not expose his mother. Instead, he tells Jae-gyu that he cares more about his uncle than anyone else. The words quietly heal Jae-gyu’s heart.

The next day, Bom faces uncomfortable gossip at work when a colleague questions her for dating a parent. Thankfully, Hye-suk steps in and shuts the talk down. With their relationship now public, Bom and Jae-gyu go on a warm, sincere date and spend the night together.

But peace never lasts long. In Seoul, Bom’s mother learns about her daughter’s relationship with Jae-gyu through Yi-joon, who shares it without bad intentions. The episode ends with drama brewing as Bom’s mother suddenly arrives in town, ready to shake everything up.

Spring Fever Episode 9 Review

Episode 9 feels like a warm throwback to classic 2016 K-drama, where emotions simmer quietly before exploding all at once. Han-gyul’s confrontation with Jae-gyu hurts most softly, because the silence says more than shouting ever could. His rushed trip to Seoul is hopeful, heartbreaking and painfully realistic. Meeting his mother feels comforting at first, until reality steps in and reminds him that abandonment does not magically disappear with sweet words.

Meanwhile, the town is busy playing accidental truth bomb. One innocent hug confession and boom, Bom and Jae-gyu’s relationship becomes public property. Yi-joon’s quiet heartbreak stings more than loud drama ever could. The episode balances gentle romance with emotional wounds, especially when Han-gyul and Se-jin finally choose each other in Seoul. But just as things feel warm and settled, the universe laughs and sends Bom’s mother marching into town. Episode 9 ends politely, but threatens loudly.
